Food Diversification in Indonesia

Hello!
What a very bright morning today..
And, I suddenly remember last night discussion on one of tv news programme about food diversification.
I think its a big WOW!
Why?
Well its because recently me n my man have many conversation about not eating rice anymore.
Yeah, we discussed a lot of it because of our diet program. We realized that rice has involved into a bad consumption habit.
Indonesian people, well lets say its my family, made rice as their main food. And it also happened to me. It made us think that if we are not eating rice yet, then we won’t full enough to be able to do our daily activities.

But than, i realized that its not the way rice affect to our body. Its just our thought. See? Our thought.
Then i also found fact that rice (and also it family, which is made from flour such as sticky rice, noodles, rice noodles, cassava, yams, potatoes, bread, and a variety of cakes) are source of sugar (glucose). Do you know how bad sugar (glucose) effect to our body?
Based on what i read , here are some of sugar’s drawbacks :

Sugar can suppress the immune system.
Sugar can upset the body’s mineral balance.
Sugar can contribute to hyperactivity, anxiety, depression, concentration difficulties, and crankiness in children.
Sugar can cause drowsiness and decreased activity in children.
Sugar contributes to a weakened defense against bacterial infection.
Sugar can cause kidney damage.
Sugar can increase the risk of coronary heart disease.
Sugar interferes with absorption of calcium and magnesium.
Sugar can increase fasting levels of blood glucose.
Sugar can promote tooth decay.
Sugar can produce an acidic stomach.
Sugar can raise adrenaline levels in children.
Sugar can speed the aging process, causing wrinkles and grey hair.
Sugar can increase total cholesterol.
Sugar can contribute to weight gain and obesity.
High intake of sugar increases the risk of Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Sugar can contribute to diabetes.
Sugar can contribute to osteoporosis.
Sugar can cause a decrease in insulin sensitivity.
Sugar can cause cardiovascular disease.
Sugar causes food allergies.
Sugar can cause free radical formation in the bloodstream.
Sugar can cause toxemia during pregnancy.
Sugar can overstress the pancreas, causing damage.
Sugar can cause liver cells to divide, increasing the size of the liver.
Sugar can increase the amount of fat in the liver.
Sugar can increase kidney size and produce pathological changes in the kidney.
Sugar can cause depression.
Sugar can increase the body’s fluid retention.
Sugar can cause hormonal imbalance.
Sugar can cause hypertension.
Sugar can cause headaches, including migraines.
Sugar can cause an increase in delta, alpha and theta brain waves, which can alter the mind’s ability to think clearly.

Here I want to highlight the drawbacks that i scare the most would happen with me :

Back to my diet, I also discussed with my man about Bloodtype Diet. Me and him have the same bloodtype, O. Based on what we read, the O people should reduce carbohydrate consumption. So, for last one year we have already eat with less carbo.

I was very happy to know that government try to reduce rice consumption in Indonesia, because it means that no more teasing when I am not having rice in my meal. But, I am a bit wonder, why government try to change rice with other food just because of economical reason. Dont they know that Indonesian eat a lot of rice because also the economical reason? They dont able to buy such a more healthy food like meat, egg. So rice become our main food, because rice is less pricey then meat, etc.
I think, if government just want to feel “save” which means, they just need to change people way of eat to secure their asset, continuing build the nation, change the rice field into building, it’s a very bad option.

I hope we can more aware with our healthy than to alarming economical situation with this kind of issue.
Rice is part of our country, i love to eat rice, and proud of that. But we know, everything must be balance.
And after we know lot of drawbacks eating lot of rice, why dont we try to eat less rice n control our appetite.
I think its better in both way, save our life, and save our nation.
